When writing a delivery driver CV template, you should pay careful attention to the advert. Here are some things that employers in this industry might want to know about which you should include on your CV and covering letter:
- Past experience in this type of role, if any.
- Clean driving licence (or a maximum number of points as specified by the employer).
- Any advanced driving courses you have completed.
- Experience driving particular types/weights of vehicle.
- B2B or B2C/specific types of clients experience (i.e. delivering to residential, commercial, schools, restaurants, government, banking, healthcare etc).
- Ability to maintain the vehicle/perform basic checks.
- Fitness and health/ability to lift, load and unload.
- Appreciation for great customer service.
- Your availability.
Do not worry if you don’t have anything to write for every point above. Many delivery services will hire drivers with no experience, provided that they enjoy driving and are safe behind the wheel! If you have no paid experience at all, you could mention any other driving experience in your profile/covering letter – for example:
Although I have no commercial experience as a driver, I enjoy driving and travel all over the UK in my spare time. I hold a full clean driving licence, I have completed the Pass-Plus and I have never had any points on my licence.
